You are the coordinator. You draw the play, the AI runs all 22 players.
Drag a route off each receiver. On release it gets inked into a real route and named: OUT, DIG, POST, CORNER, FLAT. The order you draw them is the quarterback's read progression. He throws the first one that is actually open, and the HUD shows you which read he was on and why he moved off it.
The defense keeps film on you. Run the same concept twice and it keys on it. After every play the coach note tells you what the defense saw and offers one counter.
Draw nothing and the button says so: SNAP · QB KEEP. He runs it.
Controls. Mouse or touch: drag to draw, tap a receiver to make him block, SNAP. Backspace or UNDO erases the last route. Scroll to zoom. Esc pauses. On defense, tap a defender to cycle MAN, ZONE, BLITZ, SPY, or drag him a blitz path.
What this is. A prototype in active development. One unminified HTML file, no build step, no assets, no accounts, no ads. The game and its source are the same file: download it, keep it, it is yours. Procedural graphics, synthesized sound.
What I want from you. This is a playtest build. Tell me where the first minute lost you, whether a throw ever felt like a glitch, and whether you understood why the defense did what it did. Those three answers are worth more than a score.
Disclosure. Code was written with AI assistance on top of a pre-existing hand-built engine. All graphics are drawn by the game's own code; the cover and screenshots are captures of the running game. All audio is synthesized at runtime. No generated images or audio assets.
Built by Hammer & Anvil, a one-man studio in Maryland. Also playable at https://www.hammeranvilbrew.com/chalk/?utm_source=itch&utm_medium=page&utm_campaign=chalk
